crockpot heaven - cube steak + gravy

Savory Cube Steak + Gravy

I'll be the first one to admit that i am not a fan of cooking.
we eat out more than i'd like to admit.
my children tend to not eat what i cook so we eat a lot
of chicken nuggets + peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

cutting back on eating out is something we've always needed to do
but we've found it very difficult. i hate all the dishes it takes to
make a home cooked meal. i hate that my children don't like
the things that i do fix.

I have 3 children; 7 (madison), 3 (emma) and 1(will) and a husband.
it is very difficult to fix something that everyone will eat. Well tonight
i found something, thanks to Pinterest.

I am a pin-a-holic (someone who pins a lot
on pinterest, but rarely cooks the the food or makes the diy projects)
I have have been pinning crockpot meals for awhile, but had yet to try
any of them. My in-laws gave me a larger crock-pot for christmas
and it's sad to say i've only used it once or twice.

ok, back to the food...

i found this pin Crockpot Cube Steak and Gravy and of course pinned it.
My family LOVED it!!!!

I changed it up a little...

here's what the recipe calls for

Crockpot Cube Steak and Gravy

Cube steak   (I used a family size pack)
2 cans (10.75 ounce size) cream of mushroom soup
(i replaced with golden mushroom soup only because it's what i already had)
1 envelope onion soup mix
3/4  cup water

Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a crock pot. Cook on low all day. Serve over rice or mashed potatoes or with your favorite side dishes. i served over rice with green beans (i started this at 11am - and we ate at 5:30pm)

through the eyes of a child

my conversation with Emma at bedtime

Emma : "I don't want you to go away mommy"
Me : "Where am I going?"
Emma: "to bed"
Me: "you don't want me to go to bed"
Emma: "no, you can go to bed"
Me: "then where don't you want me to go?"
Emma: "I don't want God to take you"
Me: "you don't want God to take me?"
Emma: "No mommy, because you're special"

She is the sweetest little girl!

We have had many conversations here recently about where my parents are.
I feel like it is very difficult to help my children understand where exactly heaven is.
Emma was so smart to absorb what we had talked. I told her that God took my mom
because He needed her for something special.

I love you miss emma
