14 Weeks : Lemon

Baby's now the size of a lemon!
Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine, and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys, and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over her body for warmth.

Drs appointment today :
-lost 5lbs :) i'm sure i will be gaining all of that back soon.
-Dr. found it difficult to located heartbeat and after 15 mins of worrying, she finally found it :) YEAH
-made next appointment for March 1 : the BIG ultrasound (hopefully our little lemon will let us know if we are having another little girl or if we are adding some testosterone to this estrogen family :) Sorry vic! We are so excited to find out with baby #3 is!!
-still feeling pretty tired
-not craving anything at this point!
-and this is the best part : this is my second week without morning sickness.... i can finally eat!!

13 weeks : peach

A PEACH

Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords...savor this, their nonfunctional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with his head now only one third the size of his body. And intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy -- much more convenient.

week 12 was crazy busy. we packed and moved HOME (well closer to home)! we also had a little baby scare over the weekend... in the middle of the move on saturday!!  i started bleeding and it was really scary!! called the dr. and they told me to rest and not move anything (which is exactly what i had been doing since we were moving.) then i called my new OB on monday and they got me right in at 11am!! they are amazing!! so sweet and immediately listened to the heartbeat (which was really strong) and then took me straight to get an ultrasound done to make sure everything was ok with my placenta and cervix. everything looks great with the baby but i have a subchorionic hemorrhage.

Subchorionic Bleeding During Pregnancy

from: What To Expect
Sometimes, blood clots form within the layers of the placenta. But more often than not, they heal themselves.
What it is: Also called subchorionic hematoma, subchorionic bleeding is the accumulation of blood within the folds of the chorion (the outer fetal membrane, next to the placenta) or within the layers of the placenta itself. These bleeds, or clots, can cause the placenta to separate from the uterine wall if they get too large, if they develop in a bad spot, or if they aren’t eventually reabsorbed.

How common is it? A good 20 percent of pregnant women will experience some kind of bleeding early in pregnancy, though it’s often hard to tell what’s causing the problem. Subchorionic hematomas are even harder to pick up because they don’t always result in noticeable spotting or bleeding, especially when they’re small.

Who is most at risk? There don’t seem to be any specific risk factors for developing a subchorionic hematoma in the first place, but if you do wind up with one, there are factors that can make you more — or less — likely to have a positive outcome.

so now i am on pelvic rest for at least two weeks and will be evaluated again next week.  i have to say i have too much to do (unpacking boxes) so i'm just taking a lot of breaks and only unloading about 5 boxes a day!! i still can't get to anything in the kitchen.

out little cashew looked like a jumping bean!! all over the place and wouldn't show it's face :( but it has a good looking spine!! :) 5 more weeks and we will get to find out what we are having and i can't be more excited!!!  i still think it's a boy but a little girls would be great too, at least i know what i'm doing there..... well sort of, LOL

cloth diapers part2

Research!!

Now I know that I'm only 12 weeks pregnant and it may seem a little early to be thinking about all of this, but from my experience (x2) each pregnancy goes by quicker.  and since i'm nearing the end of my first trimester i need to start preparing. we have so many things going on right now and i can't leave this until the end :)

So here's what I've found and what I think i'm going to go with....

I really like the cloth nappies from Bambino Mio. Their website says that I will need...
-24 of each size nappy (available in size 1 and 2)
-3-6 nappy cover in each size
-biodegradable mioliners (don't really need this until baby is on solids)
     -miofresh nappy cleanser

plus i'd love to have their nappy bucket + laundry bags (which can go straight from the bucket to the washing machine without having to touch those stinky diapers)

You have two parts to using a cloth diaper
1. the nappy
2. the cover

and there are some pretty cute covers out there so that we won't have to stick with just the Bambino Mio covers.

although cute.. they only have white or two others that offers colors.  And i'm looking forward to my new little with a cute little bum like this one. so much cuter than a disposable diaper bottom.  don't you think.

so here are some other options for the nappy covers.

Thirsties what i like about these is they are adjustable to grow with your baby.

I mean seriously look at that cute bottom :)

Here are another one I found
CharlieBanana : the only think I'm not really sure about with these is they have a pocket on the inside of the cover to place the nappy. and knowing that a newborn will go through LOTS of diapers... especially a breastfed baby!! And the idea of having to go though covers and nappies at least 7 to 10 times a day seems very expensive.  what i liked about the Bambino Mio is that I can reuse the cover and only change the nappy (unless of course there is a blow out, which i know is bound to happen) but using maybe 3 to 4 covers a day compared to 7 to 10 seems a little bit better on cost and the amount of laundry to do.

but they are still cute. this one is from their 2010 line

So there you have it for my first day of research.... not bad for a snow/packing day :)

disposable vs. cloth

i can't believe that i am contemplating using cloth diapers!! but having a third baby and no job means i have to find good ways to save money for my family. and using cloth diapers sounds like a good idea. i know vic is going to think i'm crazy and maybe i am. but the thought of having to buy diapers for more than two years.... well that's a lot of money. so i ready this blog this morning that was talking about cloth diapers and it makes me pretty excited. sure it will take me a little more work, since i will have to wash more stuff. but i can see so many benefits. helping to keep disposable diapers out of the landfill, esp since they aren't biodegradable. i would like to do my part. i'm not saying i will never use disposable diapers... i'm sure i will use them when we go out and at places like church. i can't imagine that they would want to deal with that. it's amazing how far cloth diapers have come.  i mean look how cute these are

so now i will be doing research to find out whats the best cloth diapers and what i'll even know what to do with these things LOL.  good luck to me right?

11 weeks : Lime

wednesday January 5th i entered my eleventh week with baby #3. I also went to the drs. for my check up and I was so happy when I got to hear the babies heart beat at about 170bpm!!  it was the most beautiful sound!!

Baby's now the size of a lime!

Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through it. But fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds, and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.

feeling pretty crummy at this point. hoping that i will feel better in the 2nd trimester.
